"I Live On" : The Alice Marshall Jackson Story
By: Alline Carter Rivers
Greetings, I, Alline Carter Rivers am a native of Tallahassee, Florida. I am the wife of Naymon Rivers, the proud mother of two (Shango and Kahliah), and the grandmother of six beautiful grands. I received my BS degree in Music Education and master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Florida A& M University. I continued further studied towards my master’s degree in Music at Florida State University. I worked in the school system in the state of Florida for 39 years as a music educator. I presently teach private piano lessons to children and adults and have done so for over 45 years. I serve in my church as the youth choir director and church pianist. I have accompanied choirs all over Tallahassee and Havanna. I am also a member of the Legacy Chorale and the Tallahassee Music Guild.
In 2012, I was led to continue the legacy of my former pastor State Mother Alice Jackson, through the writing of a publish work. The book entitled the “The Alice Marshall Jackson Story” is the accounting of the life of my former pastor who was an anointed leaders, teacher and preacher at Tallahassee #1 Church of Christ Written in Heaven, Woodville Church of Christ Written in Heaven and throughout the state of Florida. State Mother Alice Jackson was born August 17, 1908, and passed from earth to glory on October 15, 2005. In her 97 years on God's green earth, she weathered many storms. Mother Jackson had a remarkably interesting and challenging lifetime. During her many years of struggles and hardships as a female pastor, she was determined to “Live On” to glorify God. Though she has passed from death to eternity, her life's work continues to be an example for many of the pastors, ministers, mothers, deacons, missionaries, lay members, and evangelist, she taught during her ministry of over 60 years.
In reading this book you will laugh, cry, you will hopefully be inspired to strength your faith and belief that through it all, you can always count on God!
